Let's Travel Back In Time Part 1.

90s Seattle Grunge Style.

shot by Anthony Willis.

Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is a subgenre of alternative rock that emerged during the mid-1980s in the American state of Washington, particularly in the Seattle area. Inspired by hardcore punkheavy metal, and indie rock, grunge is generally characterized by heavily distorted electric guitars, contrasting song dynamics, "growling" vocals and apathetic or angst-filled lyrics. The grunge aesthetic is stripped-down compared to other forms of rock music, and many grunge musicians were noted for their unkempt appearances and rejection of theatrics.

STYLE ICON: KURT COBAIN.

I decided to do this themed shoot so can people can remember the real grunge style. The ORIGINAL grunge style is from the 90s. From light denim ripped jeans to plaid shirts to chuck taylors to striped sweaters, I got it covered for you guys in this post. Probably the most effortless style of all styles. The perfect example of the " I DO NOT GIVE A FUCK " look. All looks were specifically inspired by the icon himself, Kurt Cobain. ENJOY!

  1. Dope! I love this rendition of 90's grunge. I'll have a look up tomorrow of my interpretation of 90's grunge as well. It will also consist of all thrifted pieces. Although it's a lot harder for girls to get nice thrifted heels. Heels seem to have a very fine expiration date.
